One of a Kind. This is an outstanding artifact from the First World War, a U. S. Navy Flat Hat with a cap talley for the Armored Cruiser USS San Diego. On July 19th, 1918, the San Diego struck a mine laid by Imperial German U Boat U 156, leading to its sinking and the loss of six lives. This hat is inscribed on the sweatband, Souvenir from Clarence Nov. 17th, 1918, meaning it was likely given by the sailor to a friend as a souvenir
